About Us

Model Organism Zoo is a graduate student organization that develops hands-on and interactive activities to engage K-12 students at community events and in the classroom. We teach fundamental concepts of biology using activities involving worms, flies, zebrafish, and more!

Mission Statement

We aim to:

• Inspire and spread enthusiasm about science and biology.
• Enable young students to envision a career in science, especially those with limited academic resources.
• Demystify the work of a scientist through exposure to tools including model organisms, experimentation, and meaningful interactions with scientist volunteers.
• Encourage students to find fun in questioning, observing, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving in a scientific context.
