The search for dark matter is one of the defining physics challenges of our generation, driving collaborations and progress across many disciplines both experimental and theoretical. The abundance of evidence for its existence and continued elusiveness of any particle interaction is one of the most frustrating enigmas of the time. Amidst this, the landscape of dark matter models under consideration spans easily fifty orders of magnitude, and experimental efforts are looking for signatures in places never before considered. In this lecture we will discuss the current status of this vast and multifaceted search, investigate some well-motivated models, and survey the new and creative ways physicists are seeking to understand the darkness around us.
